Dave Winchester Wins the Newcastle Pro
Northern beaches rider Dave Winchester has claimed victory in the third round of the Human Pro Bodyboard Tour, The Rheopaipo Pro presented by SOLID at Nobby’s bank in Newcastle. Winny looked to be the man to beat with some amazing performances leading into the final, saving the best ’till last when he nailed a high flying ARS in the opening minutes to show his opposition that he really meant business.

Defending Champion Brad Jackson (Central Coast) looked determined to claim back-to-back victories, but had to settle for second place when Winchester backed up his early high score with a 9.0 late in the 30 minute final. Ratings leader Mitch Rawlins (Qld) was in fine touch in the lead-up rounds but seemed to struggle to match the brilliance of his earlier performances and had to settle for third. Fellow Queenslander Joe Clarke finished off a good start to his rookie year on Tour finishing in last place in the four man final.
“I am stoked. The waves allowed for high performance Bodyboarding and this venue was awesome”, said an elated Winchester. “I am looking forward to Warrnambool in Victoria in late May”.

In the Pro Women’s division former World champion Kira Llewellyn (Qld) edged out Lilly Pollard (NSW) with Kaitlin Murphy (NSW) finishing third and local Lauren Knowles in fourth.
“It must have been so close between Lilly and I. She got some great waves and I knew that I had to dig deep to win this event”, said Llewellyn.

Nathan Graham completed a great comeback to the competition arena with a victory in the Pro DK event.
