Angling
- The surf line - sometimes referred to as the wave line or trimming the wave - is all about getting speed. Because if you don’t have speed, there’s no point in even attempting to bodyboard.
- The key to surfing the line is all in the angling of your board. For example, if you’re angling left, your left arm should be placed on the nose of the board, while your right hand should grasp the outside rail, about midway down the board.
- Step 3:
-
Picking up speed
- Once you’re surfing the line, your main aim now is to pick up as much speed as possible to keep up with the wave and get to the next section.
- Try shifting your bodyweight around the board until you find the position that gives you most speed.
- Pulling your legs up a fraction out of the water will reduce your drag and greatly increase speed.
- Step 4:
-
The surfing line
- Look at some bodyboarders in the water and you’ll see how perfect positioning helps them in gaining maximum speed, essential for attempting to perfect any maneuver.
- Now you’re good and ready to start having a proper go at spins, airs, or even Air Roll Spins. So check out our other films right here on Videojug.
