Day one of the Jenks Pro saw an early morning disappointment with no swell for the first half of the day! With a notion of a low pressure possibly forming 250 miles of the NJ coast contest, organizer Jason Bitzer put the Amateurs on hold for a 1:30pm start in a dropping full moon tide. With a stroke of luck the swell came into the Jenks Swell window and round 1 was started at 1:30 PM. The waves where in the 3-4 ft range by 2pm and the Amateur riders had the pros on the beach jealous as the event turned into a offshore wind powered air show with unknown NJ riders taking out some heavy names. Dillon Druz (Manasquan NJ) was awarded the highest score of the day with a clean bottom turn to ARS ( 9.5) landing him in the final. AM division Vet Alex Brickel (CA) used his comping skills and clean rolls get him it the final. After this it was Pete Fittin (Spring Lake NJ) who flu the flag for the NJ crew all the way to the final as well. Rounding out the final was Noah Brooks (PT Pleasant NJ) who made his way through a full round of 24 competitors. The entire final was a very hard battle to get through the incoming tide conditions pushing four feet! In the final seconds Dilon Druz through into another amazing ARS not only winning him 1st in the final but also the first ever USBA Rookie award for a stellar performance throughout the entire day!
